How to measure AC Voltages with a Multimeter
The black lead should be plugged into the COM (common) plug. The red lead should be plugged into the voltage plug, not the amps plug. This could blow a fuse inside the multimeter. Set the dial of the multimeter to the AC voltage setting that has the wavy line above the V, not the one with the straight line.
